Updates

Everything new in Ewig, release by release. One app for Mac, iPhone and iPad, and your archive format always stays backward compatible.

Roadmap What’s next

Where Ewig is headed

No dates, no promises. Just what we’re working on, in the order we care about it.

  • Background sync: new bookmarks on all your devices, even with the app closed.
  • Video covers everywhere: auto-playing video covers in the iPhone and iPad grid.
  • Your ideas: tell us what you’re missing at .

Version 2: rock-solid capture & deeper backups

A new capture engine and a big stability pass everywhere. The release where even the stubborn pages archive cleanly. That’s the two-point-oh.

New

  • Smarter screenshots: captures wait for pages to settle, retry through interstitials, and quality-check every result. Archives come out right far more often.
  • Consent banners, handled: cookie popups are dealt with before capture. Your snapshots show the page, not the popup.
  • PDF in every backup: every archive now includes a full-length, selectable-text PDF alongside the snapshot and screenshot.
  • Automatic covers on iOS: covers now generate on-device, no Mac required.

Improved

  • Big stability pass: smoother syncing, less grid flashing, faster covers, and automatic recovery from startup errors.
  • Redesigned browser-extension save popup and improved iOS onboarding.
  • Fixed the Archive tab on iPad.

Command palette, detail panel modes & a tidier library

One search surface for everything, a detail panel that adapts to how you work, and new tools to keep your archive clean.

New

  • Unified search palette: press ⌘K to search bookmarks, jump to collections, switch views and run actions. Fully keyboard-navigable on Mac, iPad and iPhone.
  • Detail panel presentation modes: open any bookmark as a side panel, a popover, or full screen, with Web, Edit and Archive tabs in every mode.
  • Duplicate Link Finder: scan your library for repeated URLs and remove them in one pass.
  • macOS share extension: “Save to Ewig” from any Mac app’s share menu, matching the iOS experience.

Improved

  • Copy all links from a collection’s context menu.
  • Edge-triggered full-screen detail view and smoother panel resizing on macOS.
  • Scoped “Search in…” actions decouple palette search from the grid.
  • iOS no longer shows a paste prompt when opening the palette.
v1.6.0 June 20, 2026

Custom covers

Make your library yours: shoot your own photo or video covers, with smarter, smaller storage under the hood.

New

  • Photo & video cover capture: replace an auto-generated cover with your own, on Mac and iOS. Video covers encode as space-efficient HEVC.
  • Clear Archive Data: reset the local index without touching your files.
  • iCloud-synced default archive: your storage choice follows you across devices.

Improved

  • HEIC by default for covers and screenshots: the same quality in a fraction of the space.
  • Browser extension popup now shows the page favicon.
  • iOS: tapping a parent collection opens it instead of only expanding it.
  • Clearer archive-mode labels throughout Settings.
v1.5.0 June 18, 2026

Dead Link Finder: the first public release

Ewig’s first release out in the world, headlined by the feature that proves the point of the app: finding out which of your links have already died.

New

  • Dead Link Finder: run “Broken Links” from the palette to find bookmarks whose originals no longer load. Your snapshots, of course, still open.
  • New collections from the extension: create a collection right from the browser popup while saving.

Improved

  • Visual polish across the Safari and Chrome-family extensions.
