Browser Extensions
One click from every page, in every browser.
Safari (Mac & iOS)
The Safari extension ships inside the app.
- Mac: Safari → Settings → Extensions → enable Ewig.
- iPhone / iPad: Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions → enable Ewig, or the puzzle-piece icon in the address bar.
Click the toolbar icon to save. The popup edits the title, adds a note, picks or creates a collection and ticks HTML, PDF, Image from your synced default. Archived tabs get a badge.
On the Mac the app need not be open; saving starts it in the background in about two seconds. On iPhone and iPad the save goes through iCloud.
Chrome, Brave, Edge & Arc
Needs the Ewig app on your Mac; talks to it over a local native-messaging bridge. No cloud relay, no account. Same popup, same saving with the app closed.
Install it from the Chrome Web Store in any of those browsers, then pin the icon. Ewig registers the bridge itself the first time you connect the browser in Settings → Browser Extensions.
For pages behind a login, switch on Include this site’s cookies in the popup. Chrome asks for site access then, and only then. Cookies go to the app over the local channel and are not kept.

Browser Extensions → Reveal Extension Folder,
then Load unpacked from
chrome://extensions with Developer mode on. Both
builds talk to the same bridge.
Share extensions (Mac & iOS)
Save to Ewig in any share sheet saves with your default archive options.
Troubleshooting
- Extension can’t find the app: launch Ewig once.
- Save shows Pending: it is queued. Failures retry, or choose Recapture.
- Logged-in page archived as a login screen: switch on the cookie option and save again.
