Why did my capture fail?

Every capture is quality-checked. A blank page, error page, login wall or page that never finished loading is marked failed. Ewig retries with growing gaps; a page that keeps failing gets a warning badge. Recapture in the card’s context menu tries now. For pages behind a login, save from the extension with the cookie option on.

How big do snapshots get?

HTML is capped at 25 MB, PDF at 20 MB, and most pages land well under. Untick HTML, PDF and Image to keep only the cover.

Can I use the Chrome extension without the Mac app?

No. The Chrome Web Store extension hands the page to the Ewig app on the same Mac. On iPhone and iPad use the Safari extension or the share sheet.

Why doesn’t Ewig have tags?

On purpose. Collections are real folders on disk. Tags would live only in the index, and the index is disposable.

Tags also invite taxonomy gardening: #swift or #swiftlang? One folder, one place. ⌘K plus site: and has:note cover most of what tags do.

How does Ewig make money?

It doesn’t. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no ads, no data to sell. Ewig is a personal project by XY.CO, which earns its money elsewhere.

Will it stay free?

That’s the plan. Your archive is plain files on disk, so every snapshot opens in any browser without Ewig.

What if I want to leave?

Take your folder. For bookmark lists, export to Netscape HTML or CSV any time. No account to close.
