Collections & Organization
Collections are just folders, in the app and on disk. Organize once, and both your library and your file system reflect it.
Collections
A collection is a folder in your archive. Create one with
⌘⇧N or from the sidebar, and nest them as
deep as you like: Tech/Jobs,
Read/Longform, whatever fits your brain. The folders
on disk mirror your sidebar exactly.
- Move bookmarks by dragging them onto a collection, or via Quick Edit.
- Sort each collection by date (newest or oldest first) or alphabetically.
Unsorted: your inbox
New bookmarks land in Unsorted unless you pick a collection while saving. Treat it like an inbox: save freely, file things when you feel like it, or never. Snapshots are captured either way.
Smart collections
Ewig computes a few views for you:
| View | Shows |
|---|---|
| All Bookmarks | Everything, across all collections. |
| Unsorted | Bookmarks not yet filed into a collection. |
| No Archive | Bookmarks whose snapshot hasn’t been captured yet (or failed). |
| No Cover | Bookmarks missing a cover image. |
Multi-select
Press ⌘A to select all, or hold ⇧ with the arrow keys to extend a selection. With several bookmarks selected you can move them in one drag, copy all their links, or regenerate covers in bulk.
Recently Deleted
Deleting a bookmark (⌘⌫) moves it to Recently Deleted, where it stays for 30 days. Restore it with one click, or delete it for good. Nothing vanishes by accident.
